Three sisters, Esme (the oldest), Piper (the middle) and Regina (the youngest) visit their summer home in Lake George, New York. They each own a third of the house, per their mother’s will, with the stipulation that they must visit for two weeks each summer together. Along with them are their husbands and children. The three women don’t really get along and only tolerate each other. All three have secrets as well. Esme’s husband has been cheating on her, Piper has postpartum depression, and Regina and her husband are broke. The morning after the three have an argument, the body of a woman is found in their lake, and they think it might be their estranged cousin, Alexix, who is in the area looking to cause trouble. It turns out to be someone else, and now all the members of the household are suspects. The story goes back and forth in time, with flashbacks from the point of view of Alexis. All the other chapters are told from the viewpoint of the sisters. The sisters come up with a plan to have each other’s backs, and even the best plans of flaws. A solid thriller, with some well-placed twists and turns, will keep you reading along.
