In 1936, Charlotte Cross was working a dig in Egypt and found the tomb of a female Pharoah, named Hathorkare, who reportedly seized power centuries ago, and who was erased from history as well. Also found was an intriguing necklace that was supposed to go to an Egyptian museum. Tragedy struck when WWII broke out, and Charlotte, her husband and baby girl had to leave suddenly, and it’s thought it was part of a curse from Hathorkare’s tomb. In 1978, Charlotte was working at the Met, as an assistant curator and a girl named Annie was hired to help with the annual Met Gala. On the night of the big event, a valuable artifact is stolen, and Charlotte and Annie work together, going to Egypt to try and find it, and find out if her husband and daughter, whom she thought were dead all these years are still alive and it all leads to shocking reveals. This is another well-written, thrilling novel by author Fiona Davis, who never writes anything bad. Fans of her novels will be happy with this one.
