Book Review: ‘The Spires: A Novel’ By Kate Moretti

Penelope Cox is married and has two kids. Her husband is currently unemployed and her live has been a mess for a while now. She just lives day to day and then a knock on the door brings Willa, who she hasn’t seen in 20 years, since the fire. Willa claims she needs a place to stay for a few days to get away from her abusive husband. Willa fits in fine at the house cooking, cleaning and bonding with the kids and Penelope’s husband. But we soon learn she’s not what she seems. And Penelope is being pushed further on the edge. We get flashbacks to their lives 20 years ago when they lived togetherin a church house with Jack, Bree and Flynn. It was a crazy time back then but things happened and Penelope has tried not to look back or be in touch with any of them. And now Willa is trying to take over the live that Penelope has and day after day things are getting worse for her. Secrets are revealed and things may never be the same. Another solid thriller from author Moretti, with twists and turns that keep the reader engaged throughout the story.

You can pick up The Spires in stores on Tuesday, September 21st.
