Book Review: ‘The Soulmate: A Novel’ By Sally Hepworth

Gabe and Pippa are married with two little girls. About a year ago they moved to a cliffside house, in a town a few hours from Melbourne, Australia. They have a beautiful view, and a deadly cliff. People have been known to come there and possibly consider suicide. Each time someone has, Gabe has talked them down. On this night a woman has shown up, and Gabe is trying to talk her down, as Pippa looks out, she sees the woman go over the cliff, and it sure looks like Gabe had something to do with it. He says he was trying to stop her. As we read on in the story, each chapter is told by either Pippa or Amanda, in the then and know format, and we learn shocking things in almost every chapter. These people’s live are anything but boring, and there are so many twists and turns, and you have to wonder did Gabe push her to her death? If you’ve ever read a Sally Hepworth novel, you know what to expect. If you haven’t read one, you are in for a real treat. Nobody writes these novels better than her. Get ready for a wild ride, you will not want to put this one down. One of the best books of the year.

You can pick up The Soulmate in stores on Tuesday, April 4th from St. Martin’s Press.
