Dr. Henry Talbot worked at a hospital in London, until something happened, and he couldn’t find work anywhere else. He got an offer to be a private doctor for Lord Julian, who lives in a small Wales village, Plas Helyg. He’s to look after Julian, his cousin Linette and her sick mother, also be the Dr. for the village. Henry is not liked by the villagers, he is an outsider in their land and strange things happen right away, the house he is to live in is damaged, and someone shoots at him. He also learns the previous Dr. died of a heart issue, even though he was healthy. Things are not adding up in the village and Henry starts investigating and it leads to shocking discoveries and the real reason he is here and it’s not because of his skills as a doctor. An intense gothic mystery, with lots of twists and turns to keep the readers engaged. A good way to start off the fall reading season.
