Capri Sanzio owns a business giving tours of serial killers of San Francisco. Her own family had a serial killer in her grandfather, known as Overkill Bill, having killed a bunch of prostitutes. He always claimed he was innocent and died in prison. Capri didn’t think he was guilty either, even though she only got to talk to him once, and decides to investigate the case, start a podcast and write a book. On the news, a woman is found dead, and it looks like there’s a copycat Overkill Bill killer roaming around today, and then Capri’s ex-mother-in-law is found dead in the same way, and she decides to investigate the two deaths. Capri finds a lot of damaging evidence, and finds shocking secrets, and when she gets too close, the killer decides she has to go. She also finds concrete proof her grandfather was innocent, and leads to a shocking family reveal. This is a really fun, clever murder mystery that hits all the right notes. It hooks you right away and never lets up. A perfect fall read.
