The year is 1945 and in March and the Allies have defeated Germany, but still have Japan to deal with. A German U-boat has been captured in New Hampshire and the inspection of the boat finds Japanese men on the boat and a dangerous substance hidden on the boat. Captain Wolf Bowen is called and he’s told about a secret American Project, The Manhattan Project, where the US is building an atomic bomb to use in the war with Japan. There are rumors that Japan is also building one and after witnessing the first test of one, Wolf is asked by President Truman to go to Korea, where it’s rumored that the Japanese are building one and try and find out for sure. He’s to report back to the President and what he finds will change the war and the world. This is another great historical WWII novel, based on real-world events. Author Deutermann excels in writing these novels and this is another winner.
