Leah Powell has been fired from her publishing job and broken up with her boyfriend, after three years of being engaged. She decides to move to her family’s home on Cape Cod and figure out her next move. She comes across an old historical home and decides it will be the perfect place for a bookstore and call it The Sandy Page. She hires Brad, a gay college student in the closet to his Grandmother, who he lives with and Lucy, whose sister is in the hospital after a drunk driving accident with her boyfriend. Leah wants to open the store quickly and hires Luke, who is best friends with her brother, to help with the construction. The stores is able to open and becomes a success. The heat between Luck and Leah is off the charts but she’s not quite ready for a new relationship, but that doesn’t stop Luke. Brad meets a guy and they become a couple. Lucy learns shocking information about her sister’s accident. We follow along with these characters and others over one summer on Cape Cod. This is a well-written character-driven novel that you get invested in. You root for all these characters to deal with their problems and be happy. A perfect summer beach read.
