In the 1920s in New York City, it was all about being in society and being powerful. The Ridley family had it all. They are rich and have a successful business. All seven kids were adopted from various cultures and are now old enough to be married and take over the family business. It’s that time of year when the family has their annual ball, and everyone wants an invite. This year is extra special as an announcement will be made, one of the daughters is getting married. Just as the party gets going, the body of a reporter, Dale Caiman, is found in the pond in the maze on the estate. He was murdered, it seems, and all seven children had a reason to do it. He had a journal of secrets about the kids, and it went missing. As the days and weeks go by, each of the seven kids gets mysterious notes, and they finally get together to compare notes. Shocking secrets are revealed, one of the daughters finds herself in danger, and the family must work together to solve all their problems or be destroyed. This is the debut novel from author COlley and it is great. It’s a twisty, soapy, fun story of the rich and powerful, with many twists and turns. It’s a perfect spring novel.
