In 2023 a Hollywood collection of dresses from movies in the 20s is being set up for display, including dresses worn by Greta Garbo. When one of the dresses labels falls off it seems that the famous designer Clementine, who is credited with the dress, did not in fact design it. Instead, there’s a label by someone name Zora Lily. In 1924, 21-year-old Zora Lily, is living at home with her family of nine, mending dresses along with her mother, to make money to help support the family. Zora is known in the community of being great doing this, and one day wants to design, and open a dress shop. When Rosie, her best friend, convinces her to go to a club she is dancing at, it changes her life. She sees you can go out and have fun, and she meets for the first time, the man named Harley, who she will fall in love with, and one day marry. We follow her story over the years, first becoming a nanny for a rich family, falling in love with Harley, her journey to Hollywood, and her bad experience there, and finally living the dream she had as a young girl. This is one great book. It’s a strong character driven novel, that you get emotionally invested in with Zora’s story. One of the best books of the year.
You can pick up The Roaring Days Of Zora Lily in stores on Tuesday, October 3rd form MIRA.
