PJ Halliday is 63 and was married to Ivy, who lives down the street now with his friend Fred. He has a daughter, Sophie and still mourns the death of his other daughter, Kate, who died after her prom by drowning. PJ won the lottery ten years ago and is a heavy drinker. He relies on Ivy and Fred on a daily basis to help him out. His late brother and his wife have died and he is left with their two children, Luna who is ten and Ollie who is nine. He figures he can have them for the summer at least. When Ivy and Fred leave for a four-month trip, PJ is left alone and he reads that his ex high school crush is now single, he takes the kids and goes on road trip to find her and for PJ to declare his love. Along the way they stop to see a soap opera star, who Luna claims is her real father. Sophie ends up going on the trip as well, along with a mysterious cat named Pancakes, who has a unique talent. The trip is a hoot at times and an emotional journey for the four and has shocking twists you don’t dee coming. At its core, it’s about family, healing and new beginnings. It’s the road trip of the year, so strap in and go for a ride with these incredible characters.
