The year is 1958, and in Jewell, Minnesota, it’s time for the annual Memorial Day parade, known as Decoration day, to honor the veterans of the wars. On this day it is also the day the body of Jimmy Quinn, who most people hate, is found floating in the Alabaster river, having been shot to death. Sheriff Brody Dern is on the case, along with his small staff. There could be any number of suspects, but it seems to come down to Noah Bluestone, a WWII vet, and an Indian. He has a big fight with Jimmy before his death, and evidence points to him. Now the hunt is on to prove him innocent, and along the way we meet the people of this small town, most who have secrets. This is another compelling, well-written novel from William Kent Kruger. His stand-alone novels are some of the best I have ever read. You will be engaged in this book, and not want to put it down, with all the twists and turns.
You can pick up The River We Remember in stores on Tuesday, September 5th from Atria.
