A killer is on the loose and looking for revenge for something that happened many years ago. The victims get a nursery rhyme and then 19 minutes later they will be killed. The killer is a skilled person and leaves no clues to identify and it leaves the police with nothing to go on.
Joona Linna is in jail after the events of the last book. He’s keeping himself out of trouble and half his sentence is already over. He wants nothing better than to be able to get out (and possibly early) if they agree. So far they haven’t. He’s re-kindled with an old high school love and hopes to have a future with her and to be out of the police work.
Saga is on the case of what is being dubbed The Rabbit Killer with no luck. A decision is made to approach Joona with an offer to help. This is his specialty, figuring out serial killers. An agreement is made and he’s on a temporary leave and on the case. He’s having a little bit better luck and they soon get a break when they figure out the reasons for this serial killer. Thinking the case is over, Joona is put back in jail and Saga is told to back down.
But it’s not over and again Joona is out of jail, this time for good and back on the case. Soon he and Saga find a big connection and it involves Saga going to Chicago, while Joona hunts down potential victims on the killers list. Will Saga figure out from her end and will Joona be able to save the remaining victims before it’s too late. The killer is someone right in front of them and has devised a killer plan.
Authors Lars Kepler have continued the mastery of this series. Joona is a bad-ass cop and these books are really fun to read. The setting in Sweden adds to the story and the twists and turns the authors throw in always make for exciting stories. This is book number six in the best-selling series, which continues to excite.
