At the age of 18, Princess Elizabeth, the heir to the throne in England, is gifted a corgi puppy for her birthday, by her father the King. She’s thrilled with the gift, and names the dog Susan, she is the dog that all the corgi offspring, even today, have come from. They form a bond of love right away. Susan is there for everything, Elizabeth and Phillip falling in love and getting married, going on many royal trips, the marriage between them, the death of the King, and the coronation of the new Queen. There’s also another character named Hannah, who is the royal dog-walker, and close friend of Elizabeth, and each chapter is told from the point of view of one of these characters. It’s a heart-warming tale for anyone who ever owned a pet, wondering what the animal might be thinking This is historical fiction at its finest, with lots of humor, historical facts, and a beloved Queen and her pet.
