The year is 1961, in England, and Queen Elizabeth, her husband, and her sister Margaret, along with staff, are on the royal train, on the way to her yacht. Also along are Elizabeth’s personal secretary, Joan, and a woman named Sandra, who is filling in as Margaret’s lady-in-waiting, who is a pain. She claims she saw a dead man being thrown in a lake, and when the police look, they don’t find anyone, until they do find a body, who turns out to be a friend of Margaret’s new husband. The Queen, like in previous novels, wants to know all the details, and has Joan look into the death, and that there’s a lot more going on with this murder than anyone suspected. With the Queen expecting the Kennedys for a royal visit, the Cold War taking place, and a trip to Italy coming up soon, this is the last thing the Palace needs at this time. This is the fifth book in the series, and it’s another good one. The duo of the Queen and Joan is magic, and fans of the series will enjoy this one.
