When Jesse was 13, she dared her younger brother, Paul, to go into the haunted McIntyre house next door and spend 30 minutes there. The house has been empty for years, ever since the father killed his family and himself. Paul went in with two friends, and he never came out Alex, who was with him, came out without an arm. She swears the house killed him. When her father tries to burn it down, he ends up burning himself. When the city tries to bulldoze it, the house won’t let him. Years later, Jesse, all alone, hooks up with bad boy Alex, and finds herself pregnant, and they try living together, until Alex ends up back in prison. Now, surrounded by her close neighbors, they notice the house is getting active again. Then a strange man shows up and tells them the history of the house and how to kill it. When Jesse’s son ends up in the house, she takes it upon herself to try and end it, once and for all. This is an intense, psychological horror thriller. The tension ramps up with each chapter and leads to a shocking climax to the story. Fans of horror will enjoy this one.
