Jane Pre and her friend, Simon Mach, live in london and have signed up for a class to become private eyes. The course is a quick one and in order to get there certificates, they need to solve an actual crime. They’re given the case of ‘Nellie Thorne,’ an urban legend that has been going on for a long time. It seems every decade, since 1971, a woman by that name has gone missing, leaving behind a boyfriend. Now, it’s happened again, as Dev Hooper’s girlfriend, with that name, has gone missing, and now Jane and Simon are on the case. As they investigate, they find strange things going on, leading them to even stranger locations to investigate. Time is of the essence for them to solve this case and get their certificates. This is a fun debut novel that is easy to read, and has two lead characters that are well-written. Hopefully, there will be more adventures with these two.
