Ten people wake up in a strange house, with no memory of how they got there and with some of their personal possessions surrounding them. The house is locked up and they’re told they need to find the body of a missing girl, who will be alive for 12 hours. They start searching the house and soon some of them die under mysterious circumstances and their bodies vanish. We are down to a handful of characters left and a mysterious narrator named ‘The Beast Of The Cellar,’ who is the highlight of the novel. It all leads to a shocking reveal you don’t see coming, which some might love and some might not love (I am in this category). Everything leading to the ending is great, gothic and downright creepy and scary. A mixed bag of a novel.
