May Hanover, a law professor, is excited to meet up with her old friends, Kelsey, a heiress and Lauren, a musician, for a long weekend in the Hamptons. At a restaurant waiting for a parking space, another car with a couple in it, swoops in and takes the spot. Pissed about it, while drinking they write notes to get their frustration out, and even joke about one of them, (he’s cheating, he always does), and joke about putting it on the car. They soon learn the man, David Smith, has gone missing and the three of them wonder if they should go to the police, and then learn that Kelsey did indeed put the note on the car. The police soon track them down, and we soon learn shocking secrets about the three of them and one of them is arrested, when it’s found out one of them knew the guy it could also lead to other deaths being pinned on one of them. A solid thriller, with a clever ending as to who is the murderer. Author Burke never disappoints.
