Eastbrook is a small suburb outside of Washington, DC, and is the setting for this novel. On this night, a neighborhood party is taking place, and Caren has had a few glasses of wine and one shot. She leaves the party, goes home to walk her dog, and ends up passed out on the ground. The next morning, Finn, one of the neighbors, finds her and brings her home. She has a concussion and has blacked out. Nothing makes sense about the night before; all she can remember is leaving the party. A year ago, a nanny, Autumn, was murdered at the house she worked and lived in, and the killer was never found. Finn and Caren start comparing notes and team up to find out what exactly is going on. They soon learn shocking secrets involving the neighbors and even Caren’s own husband, and finally get the answers they have been seeking, no matter the cost. This is a fun, soapy, twisty novel full of secrets, and watching Caren and Finn team up is a delight. A perfect summer beach read.
