85-year-old Louise Witt has a bad hip, and hires her neighbor’s 21-year-old daughter, Tanner, to come live with her, and assist her. Tanner was a rising soccer star until an accident took that away, and now she’s a bitter young woman. The two of them together is like oil and water. When Tanner sees a news story on the TV about an old jewel heist from the 70s, there’s a picture of a woman that looks just like Louise, and Tanner thinks it’s her. Louise has secrets, and decides she has to go on the lam to California, to see someone named Georg, and Tanner agrees to go along with her. It turns into a wild ride across country, and leads to shocking, twisty reveals. This novel is so much fun. These two characters might be the best duo in books all year long, and there are lots of LOL moments. Author Colleen Oakley continues her streak of great novels.
You can pick up The Mostly True Story Of Tanner & Louise in stores on Tuesday, March 28th from Berkley.
