The fifth novel in the series is set in 1937 and finds Louisa and Guy married with a little girl. Guy has left the Metropolitan police force and open a private detective agency with Louisa. So far they have just gotten small cases but now Nancy Mitford has called and needs their help. It sems Decca (real name Jessica) has vanished. She said she was going to France with friends and even sent a couple of postcards but it was all a lie. Decca has turned to Communism and it is soon learned she is on the run with her communist cousin and they plan to get married and go to Spain for the war efforts. Guy is hot on their trail. Louisa also takes the case of a missing sister Petunia and then discovers one her co-workers went missing as well, a man she turned into management for cheating the books. It leads to trips back and forth to France and it ties into other missing women and Louisa soon has a decision to make when she hears a starling confession. Another solid novel in the series from Jessica Fellowes. I have been reading these books from the beginning and really enjoy visiting with the characters every year.

You can pick up The Mitford Vanishing in stores Tuesday, January 18th from Minotaur Books.
