Sonya MacTavish inherited a mansion in Maine, which has been in the family for centuries, and has a curse on the house, by a scorned woman named Hester Dobbs. Any woman that has gotten married in the mansion, has died at her hands, and she has taken their wedding rings, she has seven in total. Hobbs is not happy Sonya is living in the house and makes it known. Sonya is determined to find a way to stop her once and for all. She has the help of her boyfriend Trey, her cousin Owen, her best friend Cleo, dogs, a cat and friendly ghosts, including Chloe, who likes to play the right music when needed, makes the beds and picks out clothes. When a magic mirror appears, Sonya can go into the past, and see the events that have shaped the past and led to the curse today. This is the second book in this trilogy, and per usual with Nora’s three-book series, this is a placeholder that gives us facts about the house and the family and is excellent in that regard. The real action is in the third and final novel in the series, which will be the battle for the house. This is another excellent book, with a lot of action and backstory that fills the readers in on the family history. The last book should be an exciting adventure.
