Ten years after the death of her mother, Lolly Blanchard is still coming to terms with things that have happened to her. She had dreams to do certain things and hasn’t done any of them. She helps run the family diner in Seattle and business is not good. They’re barely making enough to survive. Lolly makes Lemon Drop (meringue) pies each morning, the secret recipe that her mother gave her. As her 33rd birthday approaches, her great-aunt gives her 3 magic lemon drops, that give her the power to go back and see how one thing could be different in her life for one day. She sees her mom again, what the diner she wanted to open in London would be like and what things would be like with the love of her life Rory, that she had to let go years ago. When she learns there could be a way to change one of these things for good, she debates if she should. When she’s given the advice of just following her bliss, things start to change for the better and they things she wished for, may just come true. I really enjoyed this book, it made you think what if you could change something in your past for the better, would you do it? The novel is really well-written and you root for Lolly to make the right choices and you get to follow her on quite the journey. You also get a recipe for making the pies! The book will touch your heart.
You can pick up The Magic Of Lemon Drop Pie in stores on Tuesday, August 2nd from Berkley.
