The 14th novel in the series is set as covid is hitting in 2020 and England has been placed on lockdown. Ruth is at her cottage with her daughter Kate and is becoming friendly with her neighbor Zoe. Ruth finds a strange picture in her late mother’s stuff of this same cottage and something written on the back. Her married lover and father of Kate, DCI Harry Nelson is working a string of deaths by overdoses, that look like suicide but may not be. There’s a connection to a weight loss club that all the women were part of, as are Ruth and Zoe. Ruth is also getting strange notes and messages about being beware of The Grey Lady. Zoe vanishes and Ruth is missing and Nelson is frantic to find them before it’s too late. Another solid novel in the series, set in the time of covid and what people were/are feeling about what it was like in the beginning of the virus. Fans of the series will be happy.
You can pick up The Locked Room in stores on Tuesday, June 28th from William Morrow.
