How can you not love a book with a ghost and a journey back to the past to right a wrong? If this doesn’t sound appealing then this isn’t the book for you. Author Paula Blackstone has written a really fun, enjoyable story of time travel, love and saving a young girls life.

Xanthe and her mother Flora leave London for a fresh start. Flora is going through a rough divorce and Xanthe was in jail do to the ex-boyfriend and drugs (she was innocent). They move to Marlborough and buy an antiques shop with lots of cool things leftover from the former owner. Xanthe has a special gift when she touches something sometimes she gets visions of who or what that item has been through.

When she finds a chatelaine it has special meaning. She is connected to it somehow and it turns out it belonged to Alice in the 16th century. Her mother Margaret Merton is a ghost in the shop and knows about Xanthe’s powers. She has been waiting for her for a long time. She appears to her and tells her she must go and save Alice from her fate or she will harm her mother. Margaret is stuck her until things are fixed. She cannot return there but can do harm here.

Xanthe goes back in time and has to learn to adjust to the time period, find the proof she needs to save Alice in a short period of time in order to save both Alice and her mother’s lives. She meets a man, has to do some fast thinking and may be stuck there permanently. She will have to fight to fix things before it’s too late.

A perfect romantic, mystery for those who love this kind of story! You can pick it up in stores on Tuesday, October 2nd from St. Martin’s Press.
