Book Review: ‘The Last Orphan: An Orphan X Novel’ By Gregg Hurwitz

Evan Smoak aka The Nowhere Man aka Orphan X starts off this novel in Iceland, drinking the best vodka in the world. No one has called in a while for The Nowhere Man, and he’s been off the radar. He’s been trying to see Peter as much as he can, since Mia is in a coma in the hospital. When he finds out she’s awake, he goes to see her, and that’s when he’s captured, they’ve been watching him, and waiting for him, at the orders of the President. She needs him to do an unofficial job for her, in exchange for another informal pardon. She wants him to take out Luke Devine, a billionaire, who’s power, and wealth has bought, or blackmailed people everywhere. X agrees to look into him, along with Joey (who’s away with dog), he soon learns Devine may have had a young man, and a hooked brutally killed. Soon a game of cat and mouse plays out between the two, and maybe Devine is not as bad as he seems. This is another great Orphan X novel, filled with dramatic moments, fights, shootouts, and witty writing that we have come to love in this series. Fans of X will be very happy.

You can pick up The Last Orphan in stores on Tuesday, February 14th from Minotaur Books.
