The year is 1925 and Vivian Kelly is working by the day at a dress making store, making deliveries, and at night at the speakeasy Nightingale, and dating Leo. On this day she has a dress delivery to Mrs. Buchanan, who is not home when she gets there, and waits for her to show up, interacting with her husband, who is called away for a meeting. When Vivian decides to leave and write a note, she goes looking for paper, and finds him dead in his office. When the police arrive she’s the prime suspect, and gets a favor called in, is released, and has a week to clear her name. She first turns to her boss Honor, who owns the Nightingale, but gets a weird reply. She soon learns the reason why, has to go undercover at a crazy party, and plants a spy in the Buchanan home. With time running out, and looking like she might go to jail, she has one last hope to clear her name. This is the third book in the series, and they just keep getting better. Fans of the series will be happy with this one.
