The Kaleidoscope Theater is putting on a production of Murder In A Teacup, starring Reginald Thornton IV, a real diva of an actor. He has pissed off everyone around him (and we get to witness it happening), and then drops dead on stage as the play is ending. It is thought to be a heart attack, but turns out it was murder. Ellie Marlowe, who owns the theater and has Tourette’s syndrome, decides to investigate the murder. Working with her old friend, police chief Bill Starlin, there’res a lot of suspects who wanted him dead. Another person is attacked, secrets are revealed, and Ellie may be getting too close to the truth and making someone mad. This is the debut novel by author Scott Lyerly, and it’s a fun small-town murder mystery, with quirky characters and an easy-to follow story. Here’s hoping for more adventures with some of these characters.
