Book Review: ‘The Last Kingdom: A Cotton Malone Novel’ By Steve Berry

King Ludwig II of Bavaria was taken off the crown in 1886 and soon after died mysteriously. Before he died, he was on the lookout for a new kingdom and reportedly signed a deed giving him a new land. The deed has been missing all these years. Many have searched for it over the years, but it has never been found. It could have a big effect on the United States if found. Today it’s once again being searched for by Luke Daniels, with help from Cotton Malone, but they’re not the only ones. The Germans, the Chinese, the CIA, the man who would be King of Bavaria if they were to succeed, and even the White House all want to find this, and find it fast. Cotton was only supposed to be in for one night, but now is in the hunt, with factions facing off against each other, shootouts and a trail of dead bodies being left, and just who is working for whom? It all leads to a shocking find and Cotton’s life once against in danger. Will he survive for an 18th novel? It’s been two years since the last Cotton Malone novel, and well worth the wait. This is another thrilling novel in the series and fans will not be disappointed.
