Katie Buckley is a single mom who lives in New York, and works as an accountant. When she gets an emergency text from her sister Colleen, she drops everything and returns to her hometown of Shamrock, Massachusetts, which looks like an Iriah village, where her father is the ex-police chief, and her mother runs a bed and breakfast. When she sees Colleen, she is reluctant to tell her why she texted and they go out to see Colleen’s best friend, Deidre, who they find dead at the bottom of a set of stairs. As they’re questioned, Colleen becomes a prime suspect, texts show she borrowed money from Deidre, never paid her back, and they had a fight, and Colleen has other secrets as well. Katie decides to investigate on her own, and someone doesn’t want her interfering, and makes a move to shut her up. This is the first novel in this new Iriah series, and is a fun, family, small-town mystery. The heavy Irish theme is well on display as well, and helps the plot along. With one big secret hanging over the family, there’s a lot to look forward to in future books.
