The year is 1948, in Sydney, Australia, and PI. Billie Walker is running a successful business, along with her assistant, the hunky Sam. They have recovered from almost dying in Paris and have proved that Darlene Elliott’s husband has been cheating on her, as she gets ready for a divorce. She also finds out her rival, Vincenzo Moretti, is back, and she doesn’t like it, especially since he was hired by Darlene’s husband. When she dies suddenly, Billie thinks it is foul play, and she is hoping her detective cop friend, Hank Cooper, can get to the bottom of it. When Billie is cleaning out her late father’s files, she finds $500 hundred dollars and mysterious letters and a picture from someone in Italy, and wonders what they mean. She books a cruise to Naples, with her mother, and her maid, and plans to figure out her father’s secret life, only to find danger on the boat and in Naples, that could end her life. This is another great Billie Walker novel, who is a strong female character who takes no crap from anyone. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
