In a mythical land and time lives Elra, who is a potions witch, one of the few witches allowed to live after the new regime took over years ago. Three years ago, she lost her memory, and now she runs a small shop selling her potions. Then, a handsome man walks into her shop, and her life changes. His name is Hugo, who seems to know Elra. He’s also a wanted man by the Iron Empire forces, and Elra gets caught up with him, and they need to take off before they are captured and killed. We slowly learn what his connection is to Elra and her past, and a missing princess. They soon fall for each other, and with danger all around them and shocking secrets and twists are revealed, and all could be lost when Elra learns the truth. This is the first novel in this new series, and it’s a great beginning. The characters are well-written, the story is page-turning, and the shocking twists come fast and furious, with a shocking ending to set up the next book. This one is not to be missed.
