Book Review: ‘The Hunting Wives: A Novel’ By May Cobb

Sophie and her husband Graham and young son lived in the Chicago area until Sophie decided she need a change and they moved to a small Texas town where she went to high school. She soon becomes obsessed with the local society women and the leader of the group Margot Banks. When she finally gets to meet her and talk to her, she gets an invite to a ladies night at her beach house with four other women. They skeet shoot and drink. Then Sophie learns that’s not all some of them do. They go to bars and flirt with men and sometimes hook-up, doing various sexuals acts but not ‘going all the way.’ But these women can sometimes get out of control and Sophie starts to follow along, even though she loves her husband and son. When a teenage girl ends up shot to death and found on Margot’s land, Sophie becomes the main suspect. Soon all the secrets come out and it will cause damage to her marriage and put her in danger from the police and from someone that doesn’t want her to learn the truth.

This is a real fun book filled with secrets, sex, betrayal and twists and turns that will keep the reader engaged throughout the novel. If you’re a fan of women’s fiction, you will love this book.
