The year is 1831, in England, and for Marigold Claude, who is 21 and has given up on finding love and getting married, her life is about to change. Her Grandmother, Althea, shows up and tells her about the family secret, that as the oldest daughter, she is the next Honey Witch. Marigold must leave with her to learn how to be a witch before Althea passes away. They get their powers from bees and the earth, and must keep the land of Innisfree safe from the evil Ash Witch. When they arrive there, Marigold runs into former friend August and his new best friend Lottie. Soon an attraction between the two women takes place, and Marigold knows nothing can come of it because of a curse that the Honey Witch cannot find love or she loses her magic. When the evil witch finds a way into the sacred lands of Innisfree, it becomes a battle of good vs. evil and just maybe love with help win out. This is the debut novel of author Shields, and it’s a great magical fantasy love story and a good start to her career. Fans of these kinds of novels will eat this one up.
