The Herd in New York City is a place set up for women to come and work and not have to be worried about anything. It has a long waiting list to get it. It was founded by Eleanor Walsh and she only hires the best people to work there. Here publicist is Hana Bradley, who she has known since their days at Harvard. Hana’s sister Katie has come to NY after a year of taking care of their sick mother and working on a book that didn’t work out. Katie wants in at The Herd and has to wait while her membership is processed. And while this is happening someone is writing graffiti on the walls of The Herd. With no cameras it’s hard to catch this person.

Katie meanwhile has gotten her agent and editor to let her do a book on Eleanor and The Herd. As she starts investigating Eleanor disappears. Turns out she has a lot of secrets which start to spill out. And we soon learn about the tense history of Hana and Katie via their own narratives. As the search for Eleanor commences everything starts to come to the surface leading to a shocking finale.

A solid story about women that is well-written and keeps the reader engaged in the story. As it reaches it’s climax there are lots of twists and turns. A solid thriller from author Andrea Bartz.

You can pick up The Herd in stores on Tuesday, March 24th from Ballantine Books.
