A school that seems to good to be true is at the center of this well-written psycholigal thriller debut novel by Sylvie Perry. Claudia Morgan is the single mother of 4 year-old Henry, who is a handful. He doesn’t listen, likes to throw tantrums and is disruptive in his pre-school class. Claudia is all alone, as her mother died not too long ago and Devin, the father of Henry, is nowhere to be seen. She learns about The Hawthorne School and goes for an interview. They don’t believe in regular teaching and Henry is accepted right away, as they feel there’s something special about him. Claudia can even volunteer to help pay the tuition. Henry loves it there and seems to be a different child. But something seems off with the school and soon Claudia learns not all is as it seems. She starts to investigate and ask questions and soon finds herself in danger and possibly losing Henry. She will do what it takes to get out of this school and protect Henry.
