The year is 2026, and Petra is visiting the island of Tolba, a small island off the coast of Croatia, to meet the grandmother she never knew about, after her mother’s death. When she gets there, she finds things are strange on this island. She starts having nightmares, and soon learns about a curse on the family involving a devil, and it’s ready to strike again. We get flashbacks to 1895, and we follow along with a woman named Magdalena, who is considered a healer, and possibly a witch as well and we learn that the events of what happened then are what is happening today at Lavender House, her family’s’estate. Petra is determined to end this curse on the family once and for all, and it leads to a shocking confrontation with this evil that will change their lives forever. A perfect, scary, horror mystery, just in time for Halloween. The story starts off strong and never lets up. We even get chapters of the story told by the point of view of the house. At its core, the story is about family and forgiveness.
