In 1981 Helen Foster, 18 years old, and on the track team falls in love with Cal Crosby, and loses her virginity to him. But he ended up dumping her, and giving her a disease. Her life in school was ruined. Now 40 years later, she runs into him, and at first he doesn’t know who she is. He is married, and Helen is a widower, and Helen feels she can get answers of what happened back then. Through flashbacks, we follow her story, and the things that happened then, and leading up to now. They decide to be friends at this time in their lives, and who knows what else might happen. A story of forgiveness, in this well-written character driven novel. Following these two along at this time of their lives is refreshing, they have a connection, and it’s fun watching them try to deal with everything.
