Author Andrew Mayne has started a new series that is really good. It features the new character of Sloan McPherson. A part-time cop who is at home in the water and often dives looking for evidence. The character is strong, feisty and someone you root for. The story was a lot of fun with twists and turns and a lot of underwater adventures in South Florida. A great start to the series.

Sloan McPherson is underwater collecting stuff and looking at what is at the bottom of the ocean. She sees something and realizes it’s a body. And a fresh body. It means the person was killed while she was in the water. And that person might know she was there. She calls the police and it turns into a major event with DEA, FBI and other agencies showing up. She’s a suspect at first. And then she sees that her license is missing from her car, which means that the killer knows who she is.

It turns out that someone is looking for something big and now Sloan is in the path of this killer. She’s being stalked by someone. And her only ally right now is someone she wants nothing to do with. A DEA agent named George Solar that put her uncle in jail years ago. They team up to find what everyone is looking for and it may prove to be deadly to Sloan. They have quite the adventure on the water, that leads to a stunning climax in the water.

You can pick up The Girl Beneath The Sea in stores on Tuesday, May 1st.
