After the events of the last book, things are strained between Alex (he almost died), and his best friend, L.A. homicide detective Milo Sturgis. Alex has been recovering, and Milo finally calls and needs his help. This slowly starts putting their friendship back on track, a man, Giovanni, and a woman, Meagin, were found naked at home, both were shot. She was married, and having an affair. Its first thought that maybe it’s the husband, but that’s ruled out, and now the two have to chase down every little detail they find. Then Milo finds out about another murder, and how it’s related to his case. There’s a lot more to Meagin, than anyone knew, and it all comes out, along with whom the murderer is. This is another great Alex Delaware novel, with the bromance between the two lead characters, a compelling story, with some well place twists. Fans of the series will be happy with book number thirty-nine.
