Ethan Cain, a former Navy pilot, now a treasure hunter, is back for his second adventure. His company, Pathfinder Survey Systems, is mapping out the sediment in Vietnam of the Mekong River, when he notices how low the water has gotten. Then an explosion takes place, and uncovers an ancient Chinese ship. Lana Foster, his girlfriend, is onto a story involving Shan Zhang, who is stealing the sand in river beds to make concrete. He has some massive plan to destroy the world and then rebuild it. Lana is taken to a remote area in Antarctica, and is being held as a prisoner by Zhang. Ethan and his best friend Ian Rutledge travel there to try and find her. They get a lot more than they bargained for when they find out what Zhang is planning, and it’s all in a nod to Genghis Khan. It leads to an intense climax to the story, where not everyone will survive. This is the follow-up to his awesome debut novel, Blood and Treasure. Author Pote does not disappoint with this novel. The action is fast and furious, the plot intense, and this is one of those novels you do not want to put down. One of the best action thrillers of the year.
