It’s time for the annual week-long getaway at Lincoln’s house in the Hamptons, along with his current wife, Hazel. He used to be married to Lily until he cheated on her and divorced her. Three couples are invited; Marley and Marshall, Suzy and Sean, and Juliet and Josh. All of the women were friends with Lily and had no desire to go and be friends with Hazel, but they went anyway. All of them also have secrets, as we find out right away. Someone has left cards for them, and each reveals some sort of secret or event, and each freaks out. The first night of the party a hurricane hits, and Lincoln is found dead in the pool. The roads are blocked, the power is out, the police cannot arrive for a while, and more people are found dead. The rest of the guests are stuck in the house with a killer, and no one feels safe. This is a well-written thriller, with lots of twists and turns, and almost every chapter has some sort of cliffhanger ending. A great Labor Day weekend read.
