Author James Byrne has written a great action-adventure novel, with one of the best characters in years (since Orphan X debuted) and his novel is a thrill-ride, that you just don’t want to put down. Deamond Aloysius Limerick (and yes this is his real name and he gets questioned a lot about it) but just call him Dez. He’s former military, a gate-keeper and all around bad ass. You don’t want to get in his way or you will pay the price. He’s in Southern California at the moment playing guitar in a band and staying in a really nice hotel, when he sees Petra, who turns him down for a drink. He notices out the window something shady going down and figures it has to do with her. He ends up saving her from a kidnapping and soon learns who she is, chief legal counsel for Triton Expeditors, a billion dollar military contractor. She learns that billions have been stolen from her company and Dez learns a major plot is underway with a group of militants that want to suceed from the United States and somehow this ties into her company. Dez goes exploring and it’s all on his shoulders to stop this from happening and to once again save Petra from the bad guys. Authors like Mark Greaney, Robert Crais, Lisa Gardner, Gregg Hurwitz and Steve Berry are all loving this book months before it comes out because it’s so damn good.

You can pick up The Gatekeeper in stores on Tuesday, June 7th from Minotaur Books.
