Josh has had a rough time of it lately. The woman he’s been with for years turns down his marriage proposal an dumps him on New Year’s Eve after he spent a lot of money on the ring and a romantic night. He also looses his job at a hotel he works at because his ex’s dad runs the place and is basically broke. And now he has to move back home with his parents, something he doesn’t want to do. He finds a coin on the street and decides for the next year any decisions he has to make will be done by the flip of the coin. Josh starts taking this seriously and his friends and family make fun of him for it. But the coin usually doesn’t lie and now it’s become a part of his everyday life.
Then he meets a new woman during a marathon race but gets separated from her. He goes on a quest to find her and it may all come down to the power of the coin.
A solid debut novel from author James Bailey. The premise, story and characters are really well-written and it’s a story that engages the reader right from the beginning and you root for Josh as you read the story. Author James Bailey has a solid future if he keeps writing novels like this.
You can pick up The Flip Side in stores on Tuesday, November 17th from William Morrow Paperbacks.
