Maddy Wright is the first female President and her husband Cole Wright is the first gentleman. She is working on a secret bill that will help make stable certain programs in the government that may run out if not fixed. It means working across the aisle and keeping it a secret until all the votes are secured. Writer Garrett Wilson is pitching his new book to a publisher, an expose on the Cole, that he is a killer. He will write the book with his girlfriend, Brea, a lawyer. He claims that seventeen years ago when Cole was a member of the New England Patriots, he killed his cheerleader girlfriend, Suzanne, who vanished one night and her body was never found. The police cleared him at the time and the files from then are missing. Garrett talks to all sorts of sources/witnesses from that time, and then those people die. Someone doesn’t want him digging into the past and soon his own life is threatened. When her body is finally found, all evidence points to Cole, he’s arrested and we follow through his trial in real-time. It all leads to a shocking verdict and reveal as to who is responsible for her murder and all the other murders that have taken place. Authors Clinton and Patterson have written the best political, legal thriller so far this year. The behind the scenes action in the white house and following along with the trial are intense and page-turning. This is the third novel the two of them have written and hopefully, there will be a lot more.
