Book Review: ‘The Favor: A Novel’ By Nicci French

Twelve years ago in her last year in school before college, Jude was in love with Liam, a bad boy, who she thought loved him. After a bad car accident, their relationship was over and she never saw him again. Today she is a successful doctor and engaged to be married. Then out of the blue Liam shows up and asks her for a favor. He wants her to go to a bnb he has rented and pick him up from a train station. She questions what he is up to but agrees to do it and lies to her boyfriend about where she’s going. Liam never shows up but the police do and tell her Liam is dead and question her at length and it blows up her life, personally and professionally. She is a suspect and soon starts researching the man she use to love and to figure out who killed him. Full of shocking secrets and reveals and well-written, strange, quirky characters and an engaging plot. The writting duo of Nicci French never disappoints and this is another good novel from them.
