Dr. Zoe Wilder is in Madrid on a business trip with her boss and boyfriend, Eric, when she breaks up with him. She is presenting a paper on Cryptology, and hears about something called the Enigma Challenge, and enters it. It is a series of five clues that have to be solved, and the first one to do it gets millions of dollars. She soon meets Dane, who has won the prize the last two years, and asks her to team up with him this year. At first, she says no, but what she doesn’t know is how dangerous this game is. People will kill to win the prize. They are soon in Barcelona, Paris, London, and Scotland, where a final deadly showdown takes place, and one person will win the money. Zoe and Dane fall for each other, but she soon learns shocking secrets about him and her ex, and she finds her life in mortal danger. This is a great thriller, with a romantic arc to it, and lots of twists and turns you don’t see coming. With a perfect group of supporting characters, this is one of the best books of the summer.
