Arthur Finch is a successful author who has sold a lot of books in his thriller series. He’s working on the final book in the series, which is two years overdue, when he is found dead in the water at his Scottish castle, on a private island he owns. Trying to keep word of his death from getting out, his agent and book company come up with a plan. They will invite six authors to the island, make them sign an NDA, and tell them that there is a contest going on. Each person will have the weekend, 72 hours, to write the final chapter of his last novel, and the winner will receive a million dollars and a 3-book contract. You would think this would be easy for them to do, but we soon see tension between them, secrets, and soon death. Someone is killing off the authors one by one, and with no internet or phones, survival is paramount. This is the debut novel from author Evelyn Clarke, and it’s a good thriller, with lots of twists and turns and backstories on most of the characters. More novels like this, and she will be a force in the industry.
