Book Review: ‘The End Of Her: A Novel’ By Shari Lapena

Erica is in town and that’s not good news for anyone especially for Patrick and Stephanie. They are parents to new twins who are very colicky and they are very sleep deprived. This is causing Patrick issues at his work. Then he sees Erica at the office and his world is about to go crazy. She was the best friend his late wife, who died in a tragic accident nine years ago. He also had an affair with her. He wonders what she’s doing here.

When she calls him to meet for a drink he finds out what she wants. She wants money from Patrick or she will tell the police all about their affair and other things and try and get the death of his wife re-opened and he will tell his current wife about everything all those years ago (Patrick never told her). He confesses to his wife and tells Erica she will not get money from them.

Erica is not to be stopped and tells the police her story and Patrick is dragged through a new investigation. Erica is also blackmailing another family over the child she gave up for adoption, who may be Patrick’s son.

All this gets to Stephanie and the more she hears begins to nag away at her. Can she trust Patrick? Is he a killer and will he try to kill her? Shocking secrets are revealed and deadly plans are put into place and at least one person will die in this thrilling new novel by Shari Lapena.

A sordid tale of death, betrayal and turning the tables on each other mark another great novel. Shari never disappoints in her books.
